MOMS Club Hosts Gold Satori Hopeful

Megan Angulo, an eighth grade student at the Morris Plains Borough School, was a guest speaker at our Chapter Meeting on March 12, 2009.  Megan is a member of ROGATE (Resources Offered in Gifted and Talented Education), a National Talent Network (a gifted and talented service of the Educational Information & Resource Center- www.eirc.org/ntn) sponsored program. The topic of the presentation was the “Back to Sleep” program, a public education campaign designed to increase awareness and decrease the incidence of SIDS- Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Megan completed an independent study during her seventh grade school year on the “Back to Sleep” program and how it affects the development of babies. Megan received the Bronze Satori award for her work, and she is now going for the Gold by expanding on her project. In addition, she is doing a variety of volunteer work that relates to her topic, including working at a special needs school and mentoring.
